Indigo Pastel is a Rotterdam/Zeeuws-Vlaams collective founded by childhood friends Tim Roos and Sander Coers. Their music is intentionally erratic: one foot anchored in downbeat dreampop, lo-fi folk and winding slowcore, the other in immersive synthpop, new wave and alternative rock. Within that range of influences, they seek out remnants of warmth, romance, triumph and idealism even in the most barren corners of human consciousness.
Thanks to their intense, immersive live shows – often stylistically in stark contrast to their recordings – Indigo Pastel proves to be a versatile, enthusiastic live act, equally enamored with the New Romantics of the 1980s as with Wong Kar Wai films. In 2021, the band traveled with the Popronde and reached the finals of the SENA Grote Prijs van Rotterdam.
Their upcoming debut album, Westerschelde, revisits a dark chapter in Roos’ life. The band weaves together raw recordings made at the height of Roos’ despair with more recently developed arrangements.
