Lifeless Past
Post-punk inspired by the 80s goth movement, but sung in Spanish. Sounding both original and traditional, in cuisine you would call it a modern twist on a classic recipe. This is a term Lifeless Past will understand if it were used to describe the music of the Netherlands-based band with Curaçao roots. Atmospheric music with cold drums, wintry vocals and cascading guitars.
My Girlfriend
One takes a drummer, a keyboardist and a bassist with a McCartney-esque feeling for choruses and lets them play punky rock songs. The result: My Girlfriend. The threesome around mastermind Gijs Schouten rules the no man’s land between The Wombats and Blood Red Shoes with energetic songs and rock-solid hooks. No long intros, no weird song structures, just a straightforward attitude and energy. These guys don’t even need a guitarist to take the room by storm.
